macOS and Windows don't share a version number. StitchMotion started on macOS, so it's a few releases ahead: when the Windows version first shipped it began at 1.0, even though macOS was already at 1.2 — and that Windows 1.0 already included the features from macOS 1.2. So the two platforms stay close in features even though the numbers don't line up (at the time of writing: macOS 1.4, Windows 1.1).
StitchMotion Pro
The app is free to use. Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase — no subscription. You can unlock it from the paywall inside the app (for example when you pick a Pro style or format).
Already bought Pro? Choose Restore Purchases to unlock it again on another computer signed in to the same store account — your Apple ID on macOS (Pro also works across your household via Family Sharing), or your Microsoft account on Windows.
See Free vs. Pro for exactly what Pro unlocks.
Opening a design
Once installed, you can open an embroidery file in any of these ways:
- Drag the file onto the StitchMotion window.
- Double-click the file in Finder (macOS) or File Explorer (Windows) — or right-click → Open With → StitchMotion.
- Use File → Open… inside the app.
StitchMotion also previews embroidery files right in your system — see File previews.
