Thread colors

StitchMotion can match your design to real embroidery thread colors, or let you recolor it however you like. Color editing is free.

Thread catalogs​

Pick a thread catalog (a manufacturer's color line) and StitchMotion maps every color in your design to the closest real thread in that catalog. Available catalogs:

  • Madeira Polyneon
  • Sulky Rayon 40
  • Brother PE (polyester)
  • Isacord Polyester

Matching uses a perceptual color comparison, so the picked threads look as close to the design as the catalog allows. Each mapped thread shows its code and name (for example Sulky Rayon 40 · 1001 · Bright White).

Recoloring by hand​

You can override any color individually with the color picker — useful when a file opened with a default palette (like DST) or when you want a specific brand shade. Use the search field in the thread picker to find a thread by its code or name.

Color changes affect the preview and the export only; the original embroidery file is never modified.
